ECRMC Supports Closing the Gap in Health Care

April 17, 2006

Mt. Pleasant, S.C. - East Cooper Regional Medical Center and the Tenet Healthcare Foundation have awarded a $1,000 grant to Closing the Gap in Health Care, Inc., a non-profit organization focused on providing health care tips and information through radio broadcasts.

The program was started in 2004 by Dr. Thaddeus J. Bell, a local primary care physician, who felt there was a need to reach and educate minorities on subjects ranging from diabetes, cholesterol and mental health care to weight control, stress relief, and preventative medicine.

“We appreciate the service Closing the Gap in Health Care, Inc. provides to the community and we are pleased to be able to provide our support,” said Andrea Wozniak, Chief Executive Officer of East Cooper Regional Medical Center.

Endowed by Tenet, the Foundation, along with East Cooper Regional Medical Center, directs grants to help healthcare needs in the communities served by Tenet hospitals. The Foundation also provides grants to various educational, social services, civic and humanities–supporting organizations nationwide.
