Charleston, SC., Apr. 7, 2003— East Cooper Regional Medical Center and Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC) announced that Mary Brady was selected to become chief nursing officer (CNO) for the hospital effective April 1, 2003.    In her position as CNO Brady will be responsible for the management of all nursing areas at the hospital.

Brady, who has more than 15 years of nursing and leadership experience, was assistant chief nursing officer at Hilton Head Regional Medical Center. While there, she worked with the hospital’s CNO to oversee the daily operations of all nursing departments. She also chaired a regional committee that developed a new preceptor program for registered nurses that resulted in an increased nurse retention rate.

Brady serves as an ethics instructor and a leader instructor for Tenet HealthSystem. As an instructor, Brady travels to other Tenet affiliated facilities teaching hospital leaders and employees about how to apply ethical standards in today’s workplace. Brady says that in this capacity, she has often visited East Cooper Regional Medical Center and looks forward to working with the staff on a new level.

Brady also has experience in education including serving as a special education teacher, science teacher and assistant principal at a middle school.

“Mary is an outstanding and experienced manager who brings with her some valuable skills including her education background, nursing and administrative experience,” said Gregory H. Burfitt, Senior Vice President of Operations for Tenet HealthSystem’s Southern States Region. “She has distinguished herself as an excellent leader, and I am confident that she will do an excellent job in her new role at East Cooper Regional Medical Center.”

Brady holds a bachelor of science degree from SUNY at Empire State in Alfred, NY, a master’s degree in education and special education from Mansfield University in Mansfield, Penn., and a master’s degree in education and administration from University of South Carolina in Columbia.
