Mt. Pleasant, SC – Melanie Cason, RN, BSN, has been selected to receive the 2005 Palmetto Gold Award for nursing excellence.  Each year Palmetto Gold honors 100 registered nurses in South Carolina who exemplify excellence in nursing practice and commitment to the profession.  As a recipient, Melanie has demonstrated excellence in the practice of nursing, in supporting her colleagues and her hospital, and in being an advocate in her community.  The scholarship fund is administered through the S.C. Nurses Foundation.  Melanie is a critical care supervisor at East Cooper Regional Center.
