Nagel Selected for Caregiver Hall of Fame

May 8, 2006

Andrea Nagel, R.N., was inducted into Tenet's Caregiver Hall of Fame.

Mt. Pleasant, S.C.  – Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC) announced today that Andrea Nagel, RN, BSN, a Women’s Services nurse at East Cooper Regional Medical Center has been selected for Tenet’s Caregiver Hall of Fame.

Reynold Jennings, Tenet’s chief operating officer noted that the hospital had achieved a significant milestone for the year with the induction of Nagel into the Tenet Caregiver Hall of Fame.

Nagel was recognized for her exceptional abilities as a nurse, and her ability to stay calm during difficult situations.  In one case, she realized that an unborn twin was in trouble and quickly notified the mother’s physician and began preparing for an emergency Cesarean Section.  Thanks to Nagel’s quick thinking and teamwork, the C-section was completed within six minutes and resulted in two healthy babies.

“Perhaps nothing is more critical in health care today than the passion and quality of service provided by dedicated professionals like Andrea,” said Trevor Fetter, Tenet’s chief executive officer.  “The Caregiver Award winner represents the best of who we are and what we do at Tenet.  Andrea truly exemplifies the best of this spirit of extraordinary caregiving.”

Nagel is just one of four people inducted into this year’s Caregiver Hall of Fame and the only recipient from Tenet’s Central Northeast-Southern States Region.  Caregiver award winners are nominated by their hospital’s chief executive officer.  Winners are selected from dozens of nominees, based on both objective criteria such as extraordinary examples of patient care, devotion to service and technical skills, as well as comments from colleagues, patients and their families, and physicians.
