The Diabetic Education Group at East Cooper Regional Medical Center meets monthly and is designed to teach people how to successfully manage their diabetes. The group is open to family members who may benefit from diabetes education and support.
The program provides training on the following topics:
- proper nutrition
- types of diabetes
- blood glucose monitoring
- medication
- stress management
- preventing diabetic complications
Motivation and support are provided to allow for positive lifestyle changes. Professional staff includes a registered dietitian, registered nurses and a pharmacist.
Participation requires a physician referral.
The Diabetes Education Group meets on the third Tuesday of every month in the first floor classroom and is free of charge.
