DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT CARE
Let’s face it; diabetes can be a lot to handle. There is so much to learn and so many lifestyle changes to make. The good news is that, even with all the adjustments, you don’t have to do it alone.
The Diabetic Education Group at East Cooper Regional Medical Center meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 5:00 p.m. in the hospital’s first floor classroom. Designed to teach people how to successfully manage their diabetes, the program includes guest speakers, group discussions, and various activities related to improving knowledge and self-management of diabetes.
Our staff of diabetes educators offers a multidisciplinary approach and includes physicians, registered nurses, certified diabetes educators, a registered dietitian, podiatrists, exercise physiologists and social workers who specialize in the care and education of people with diabetes.
Whether you are newly diagnosed or have had diabetes for years, the Diabetic Education Group can provide education and ongoing support to give you a better understanding of how to live with diabetes.
The program provides information on: • Proper nutrition • Types of diabetes • Blood glucose monitoring • Medication • Stress Management • Preventing diabetic complications
