Mt. Pleasant, S.C. – East Cooper Regional Medical Center, through the Tenet Healthcare Foundation, has awarded one-year college scholarships to two local students who are children of East Cooper Regional Medical Center employees.

Madison Emmitt is the daughter of Sheila Weiker, director of imaging services.  Madison is a senior at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee.   Alyson Murphy is the daughter of Juliana Murphy, a registered nurse in the nursery.  Alyson is a junior at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina.

The scholarships are awarded each year for full-time undergraduate study at any accredited college, university or vocational-technical school.  Winners are chosen based on academic record, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, goals and aspirations stated on the application, unusual personal or family circumstances and an outside appraisal.

“With the rising costs of higher education, we are pleased to offer this financial assistance to our employees and their children.  We see these scholarships as an investment in the future,” said Andrea Wozniak, CEO, East Cooper Regional Medical Center.  “Congratulations to both the recipients and their parents for this exceptional achievement.”
