Certified by the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurses Society, Loftis has received military awards for providing quality patient care. A retired Navy officer, he is a graduate of the Wound Care Specialty Course, Medical University of South Carolina, 2001. He earned his bachelor’s degree in nursing from Berea College, Berea, Ky.
Loftis is responsible for direct care and management of outpatients that require specialized wound care. This includes pressure, venous and arterial ulcers, chronic non-healing wounds, traumatic injuries, burns, slow healing surgical wounds, diabetic foot ulcers and wounds and management of fistulas.
He provides patient and staff education, provides interventions to prevent wounds, such as pressure off-loading devices, compression garments and specialty beds. His background includes nursing positions in the emergency room, intensive care units, general surgery and outpatient centers and clinics at varied foreign and continental locations.
