East Cooper Celebrates National Healthcare Volunteer Week

Jul 7, 2015

Mount Pleasant, SC (April 12, 2015) – National Healthcare Volunteer Week, April 12-18, is a special opportunity for East Cooper Medical Center to pay tribute to the volunteers who devote their time, energy and talent to serving the patients and associates at our hospital.

This year’s theme, Transforming the Patient Experience, is especially timely.

“Our hospital was recently named #1 hospital in patient satisfaction for the 10th year in a row,” said CEO, Jason Alexander of East Cooper Medical Center. “The volunteers are an important reason of why we are presented with this honor.”

Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community and help those in need. The selfless support provided by East Cooper Medical Center’s volunteers allows our hospital to deliver an added level of service to patients and visitors.

Established by President Richard Nixon in 1974, National Volunteer Week is about encouraging others to seek out imaginative ways to engage in their communities. Every April, charities, hospitals, and communities recognize volunteers and foster a culture of service.

“Our volunteers give selflessly to others, and they understand the value and importance of a friendly smile, and the comfort of kind words in the healing process,” Alexander said. “We, quite frankly, could not do what we do without them.”
