“Besides learning music from some of the best directors in the country, students learn leadership by serving on the student leadership team,” explained E.C. Setser, Vice President of the Wando Band Boosters which hosts fundraisers and encourages band sponsorship. “They lead their various instrument ‘sections’ and meet with the directors at least once a week (usually more) to act as a voice between students and directors. This leadership training is invaluable to students. They also learn teamwork, hard work, dedication and time management.”

More than 260 students currently participating in band. Community partnerships and sponsorships help reduce the costs incurred to participate in various activities throughout the year.
