Level II Neonatal Nursery
Taking Care of the Most Fragile Newborns
East Cooper Medical Center is proud to provide our community with the longest standing Level II NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, our top priority is that every newborn arrives happy and healthy. However, at times there can be situations where a newborn may come too early or have an unexpected (or anticipated) complication that requires specialized neonatal care and attention.
A Level II NICU is a neonatal intensive care unit that is capable of treating late-preterm infants, from gestation 32 weeks to 37 weeks. We provide care for infants with complications and who need very specialized medical attention such as newborns who:
- May need to be placed in an incubator
- Aren't strong enough to eat well and require NG or OG feeds for easy and critical nutrition
- Have health problems related to prematurity, such as jaundice or apnea of prematurity, anemia, bradycardia, hydrocephalus, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, interventricular hemorrhage, necrotizing enterocolitis and respiratory distress syndrome
East Cooper Medical Center is proud to have an experienced team of board-certified MUSC-affiliated neonatologists, with a commitment to specialized care.
